Stories of a German Exchange Student

robotics team

I only had 5 hours of school today. One of them was German class and it was really cool to see the students learning German, but I can’t help but feel that the students were more shy to speak because there were two German native speakers in the room. But the teacher said afterwards that even if that was the case, we should keep coming back. After class I went to Lahu, a village 20 minutes away from Koeru, for the robotics thing. We went to a very old house, without running water or any of the usual things. But in the few rooms you can get into, there are 3D printers, notebooks, Lego and robotic parts, and blackboards everywhere. In one of the rooms I was talking with a girl from my school, first about this year’s FLL challenge and second about us, to get to know each other better because of the teambuilding aspects. For me this place was just great. I have never seen such a place with such a working atmosphere and I will probably go there every second Friday if not every Friday. I am very happy to know this place. After that I went home and finally met my sister again after this week. When we saw each other we were like little children. After chasing each other around the house for 15 minutes, we finally stopped so I could get something to eat because I got home quite late and then go into the sauna. Now I realise again how grateful I am to my host family for taking me in.

  2. I remember FLL very fondly, sadly our schools team disbanded several years ago.
I wish the team very good luck in their turning radius calculation.
