Stories of a German Exchange Student

First day at school

Today was my first day at school and not much has happened. In my class I have only spoken to two students so far, but they seem very nice. Afterwards there was a ceremony where the 1st graders walked around the school with the 12th graders. Some teachers were also honored, the student representative, who was one of the girls I spoke to today, gave a speech and I was introduced as an exchange student. I was given a badge with the school logo on it. After all this official stuff, the school was over, but I stayed for two conversations. One with the maths teacher, who doesn’t speak German or English. So the German teacher helped us as an interpreter. We talked about my maths education and my participation in classes. She also asked about the competitions and maybe it will be possible to translate some of the Estonian competitions into English or German. Otherwise I’ll take part with a dictionary. The second talk was with the music teacher who is responsible for the school’s robotics team. I’ll probably go to some competitions with this team. She also gave me permission to go to the IT and robotics room whenever I want to build and program on my own. My first competition is next week and it is about cyber security.

On the image you can see the house for the 1st to 4th graders.
