Stories of a German Exchange Student

Christmas

My holidays started with a robotics day, we met in the morning and programmed and built until the evening. The next day my eldest sister came back from Sweden and is now living at home again. While my parents picked her up from the airport in Tallinn, I visited a friend. After that we had time until the 24th to decorate the Christmas tree, prepare Christmas food or play games.
On the 24th I went to church a bit early to rehearse with the local choir. Then my family came and we attended the service, which was not nearly as festive as in Germany. At home we had the big Christmas dinner, which was Finnish because of my family’s origins. There was fish, beetroot salad, potato and carrot casserole, ham, black pudding … . Then Santa Claus came and brought presents, which made my brother really happy because he got many Lego sets. Personally, I wasn’t expecting anything big or special, so I was pleasantly surprised by the 5×5 Speedcube that my family bought for me. The day ended normally with a long sauna session.
The next few days were relaxed and mainly filled with playing games, building Lego sets with my brother and eating leftovers from Christmas dinner. On the 26th I visited a friend and on the 27th I went out again to meet my robotics team.
